TECHNO BABBLE
I have a story I haven’t told
Concerns the techno gap
Between the young and the old
Wrote letters to grandkids far away
To get them to know me
In a personal way
Was told snail mail is out and e-mail is in
But we love you, Grams
Will write you real soon
Since then I know that they will never hear
My voice with earphones
Snugly In their ears
A voice who has so much to share
Of lessons learned from years of life
But they don’t care
A voice that may suggest some clues
And help to cope with tough times we all face
And deal with blues
The voice says, Dears, no time to baulk
Just listen to your Gramma please,
We have to talk
E-mail is out, now cell phones reign
Lets text and twitter and tweet away
Have we gone insane?
Time flies with so many facebook friends to post
The constant messaging knows no bounds
From coast to coast
Families gather together at dining places
Heads bent to their cell phones
Lost in cyberspaces
I wonder how folks would manage to thrive
If techno should cease, what would they do?
Can they survive?
I have no doubt us Grandfolk would manage
Get on with life before techno babble
And relish the quiet
